Avatâra has an interest not only in collaborating with artists from different cultural backgrounds but also researching the dance sectors of non-European countries in order to broaden our view on how another culture deals with its own performing arts sector, observing their achievements but also their deficiencies and difficulties. These cultural dance experiences aim to engage in dialogue, exchange knowledge and pursue collaborations with creative minds from other cultures: one of the greatest privileges any artist can have. Her latest research took place in Nunavut (the Canadian Arctic).
Thomas Sankara: “You cannot carry out fundamental change without a certain amount of madness. It comes from nonconformity, the courage to invent the future. It took the madmen of yesterday (and I add: the madwomen) for us to be able to act with extreme clarity today. I want to be one of those madmen/madwomen. [...] We must dare to invent the future.”
