THE CONCEPT The Protocol is a contemporary dance-theatre work where three unfortunate characters find themselves in an unwanted situation: they have been chosen to be the ambassadors for the first encounter between humans and unknown visitors. Their mission is to develop a strategy (a protocol) to understand the outsider and survive this peculiar meeting. Taking this unusual setting as the starting point, the choreographer Avatâra Ayuso will take us on a journey where dance and live text question our approach to the other, reflecting on matters such as our inner fears and contradictions, prejudices and empathy. This work has been designed as a triptych and exists in three formats: An indoor work for non-traditional theatre venues // An outdoor work // A short film
