"Excellence Changes Lives" (Avatâra Ayuso)
The Creative Learning department of ɅVɅ DANCE COMPANY delivers Avatâra Ayuso’s vision to nurture the creative potential of individuals, whether professional or non professional, and to positively impact on the current landscape of dance (how it is taught, learned and talked about). Stimulating the creativity of the participants, we want to promote a dialogue; a working environment in which each participant finds his/her own artistry whilst taking inspiration from others around them, enriching their experience and discovering new skills.
Avatâra’s international profile has allowed her to work with world renowned choreographers across Europe. She has also taught in China, Taiwan, Japan and various European countries allowing her to compare different methodologies. This experience has lead her to develop a unique teaching system, we call it SCHEMA, Physical Thinking Tool. In Avatâra’s words: “SCHEMA is a thinking tool to train movement investigators capable of creating complex, sophisticated and detailed movement. I use it with my dancers to broaden our perspectives on and approaches to what the body can do when improvising and devising tasks. You will enter this creative world with your own expertise and background, and I hope that you will leave it with some inspiration for your own creative practice.”
ɅVɅ DANCE COMPANY can lead workshops individually tailored to the level and aims of your group. We offer a variety of workshops, designed to explore and understand the unique movement vocabulary and dance principles of SCHEMA. Our technique classes are in Volumetric Ballet, AVA Contemporary Dance, SCHEMA Improvisation Workshops.
Avatâra has worked in several schools recognised internationally: Palucca Schule Dresden (Germany), Creative Academy (UK), Northern School of Contemporary Dance (UK), Vancouver Ballet Society (Canada), London Contemporary Dance School (UK), Beijing Dance Academy (China), Royal Academy of Dance (UK) and Taipei University of the Arts (Taiwan), among others.
ɅVɅ DANCE COMPANY is part of the UK National Campaign Inspiring the Future and also Inspiring Women and the AWA DANCE Initiative (Advancing Women's Aspirations in Dance). We give Volunteer talks in schools on career insights: what is like to be a dance artist?/ a choreographer?/ a dancer?
